Updated 14th January 2025
We are excited to announce the latest enhancements and fixes to Autofly with V 118. These updates bring significant improvements to functionality, user interface, and overall system performance. Here’s what’s new...
General Updates
- Waypoint Visualization: Passed waypoints are now highlighted in blue to enhance visibility and tracking during missions.
- Mission Configuration: User-modifiable mission configurations are now saved in cache for easier reuse.
- Return-to-Home (RTH): The default action for mission RC lost is now set to RTH, ensuring greater safety.
- Custom Messaging: Different custom message hints for waypoint and SI missions improve user guidance.
- Metadata Enhancements: Work order (wo) and pole fields in mission points are now supported and added to images metadata for specified points.
- Task Resumption: Enhanced ability to resume missions. When a mission is stopped (e.g., for a battery change or location shift), the flight history is saved. Users can then resume the mission from the next waypoint, ensuring continuity and efficiency.
Media & Synchronization
- Simultaneous Uploads: Media files can now be uploaded three at a time, speeding up the sync process with the drone and SD. This includes simultaneous uploads from blade folders when syncing with SD (full support in the upcoming update).
- UI Enhancements: Sync UI can display multiple upload steps simultaneously, improving the monitoring of ongoing transfers.
- Media Grouping: Media files are now grouped by days instead of the previous 15-minute intervals, helping users organize their files more efficiently.
- File Naming: Implemented saving potential file names when new photos are taken, addressing issues with metadata mapping.
- Original File Names: When files are pulled from the drone, they are saved and uploaded with their original names; removed old naming logic that included “_created” and “_session” suffixes.
- Performance Improvements: Addressed numerous memory leaks and bugs, and implemented optimizations that reduce computation and waiting times when operating with large amounts of files.
Version 118-Specific Updates
- DJI SDK Update: Updated to the latest DJI SDK versions from 5.10.0 to 5.12.0, supporting M4E/M4T and incorporating fixes from 5.11.0. Full Change Log
- Altitude Settings: Default maximum altitude is set to 120 meters initially or after this update.
- Custom Button Mapping: Support for custom buttons mapping on DJI RC Plus and DJI RC Plus 2 (L1, L2, L3, R1, R2, R3).
- Folder Naming: Turbine blade name (A/B/C) is now used for naming folders instead of blade serial numbers.
- App Performance: Fixed issues with app lagging during extensive mission/flight paths by optimizing waypoint icon updates on the map.
- Sync Enhancements: Improved handling of media sync to prevent duplication of master folder names. Media synced on the same day will be uploaded to a date-stamped folder, with subsequent syncs adding to the existing folder structure.
Ongoing Development
- LTE Dongle Support: Active development is in progress for LTE dongle support, with testing scheduled for early next week.
